What do you do for J. Selby's? I am a FOH employee, and usually I’m an Expediter. That means I’m the guy behind the bar communicating with the cooks and other employees in order to assure that all the food gets to the customers in a timely, delicious, and consistent manner :) I’m also the person who is making silly faces at young folks and going down fake staircases.

What's your favorite J. Selby's menu item? Debateable. As I’ve eaten everything quite a few times, the menu items I frequently order are variations on the regular versions so long as the cooks have patience with me :) but my favorite things to eat in different forms would be the burger specials of the week and the buffalo soy curl!

What's your favorite thing to do in the Cities? Biking, coffee, and theatre. All those things are pretty central to my life. Biking all the lakes and parks, drinking coffee in new places, watching wonderful artists of the twin cities.

What's your favorite animal? Oof, rough one, definitely cats, but definitely dogs. Hmmm. I love them both, but I get to see dogs all the time. But probably all-time favorite is the Tapir, because it's like a zebra-Eeyore and it's a really good word for hangman.

Your favorite binge-worthy TV show? Twin Peaks. Though Handmaid's Tale is a close second.

What made you decide to follow the vegan diet/lifestyle? An ex-partner actually, they didn't like spending time with me when I had eaten meat, and didn't want me eating meat with them around. And then I was just like: "Why not?" I live in Minneapolis, I have several grocery stores which sell wonderful produce but beyond that vegan milk, cheese, butter, and meats are quite nearly as delicious if not more so! So basically I looked at all that, and how in Minneapolis most places have vegan options, and figured if I can do a good thing, it doesn't cost too much money, it's healthier for me, healthier for the world, and doesn't hurt animals why not? I'm not the strictest of vegans, but for the most part I don't spend money supporting animal food products.

What is one piece of advice you'd offer to someone hoping to become vegan or eat plant-based? Don't worry about how hard you think it might be :D Eat plant-based foods whenever you want to at first, if that's nice, eat them whenever you're going to get good nutrition and be full and satisfied, if that's nice, try eliminating animal products from your life and see how you feel! Hopefully better!

I will be in Romeo & Juliet at Park Square as Mercutio! I'll also be directing for the Chicago Avenue Project in December which is a really splendid thing. Beyond that: I make videos! I do archival/promotional footage for live performances, but I also make music videos and recently filmed a feature film entirely with an iPhone :D
